Velo — Privacy Policy

Velo is a fitness and nutrition app. This page explains, in plain language, what we collect, what we do with it, and what we never do. Questions: velofitsupport@gmail.com.
Account data
Your email address, used to sign in and sync your data across devices. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive the email (or Apple's private relay address) and the name your provider shares. We use them only to run your account.
Health & fitness data you log
What you put into Velo is stored in your account so the app can show it back to you: meals and foods, body weight, workouts (sets, reps, weights), runs and walks — including the GPS route, distance, and pace recorded only while you are actively recording — and your goals. Daily step counts are read from your phone's motion sensor and processed on your device; they are not uploaded.
Photos
- Meal photos — if you snap a meal for AI estimation, the photo is sent to our AI provider to estimate the nutrition and is not stored on our servers afterwards.
- Progress photos — stored in your account, visible only to you. They are never shared with a coach.
AI processing
When you use an AI feature — logging a meal by text or photo, building a meal plan or workout program, or chatting with the in-app coaches — the text or photo you provide (plus relevant context such as your goals or basket) is sent to a third-party AI provider to generate the result. Your data is not used to train AI models. AI output is general guidance, not medical advice.
If you link a coach
Coaching is opt-in and starts only when you accept a coach's invite. A linked coach can see your food logs, workouts, weight, runs, and goals, can assign you a program, and can send you notes. A coach cannot see your progress photos. You can revoke a coach's access at any time in Settings, which cuts off their access immediately.
Retention & deletion
Your data is kept while your account exists. Deleting your account (Settings → Delete account) permanently removes all your personal data — logs, photos, runs, plans, and messages. If a coach wrote notes or reports about you, the coach keeps their own written words, but your identity and your health statistics are removed from them. Deletion cannot be undone.
Who can see your data
Your data is stored with our database provider under access rules that restrict each record to its owner. The app's operator can access data only for support and debugging — for example when you report a problem — and never for any other purpose.
What we never do
- No ads, and no tracking you across other apps or websites.
- We never sell your data. To anyone.
